Volleyball: Sialo making waves in Oman for Al Salam

The Oman league is currently in the second stage with six teams advancing to this round

Trailblazers opposite and Wafalme Stars player, Moses Omondi Sialo officially penned a season-long deal with with Al Salam Club Oman for the 2023-2024 season.

His previous pro deal was with top Iraqi volleyball side Erbil Club.

Sialo, a former Kenyatta University player is not new to professional volleyball as he had featured in several leagues outside Kenya before joining Trailblazers when they came to be in 2021.

Some of his previous clubs include Rwanda Energy as well as a short stint in the Japanese top-tier league featuring for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler.

Omondi left the country on 15 December for Oman where he is the only new signing for the top-tier side in the 2023/24 season so far. He has since helped the club bag several wins including their most recent 3-1 victory over Majees.

Best of luck with this thrilling chapter ahead,” his Kenyan parent club, Trailblazers wrote as he left for the West Asian country.

The Oman league is currently in the second stage with six teams advancing to this round including Al Seeb, Al Salam, Majees, Oman Club, Suhar, and Al Bashayer. Al Seeb are top of the standings while Sialo’s new employer Al Salam who blanked Majees 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 21-25, and 25-20) in their most recent match are in the second place.

Majees are third with five points, two behind Al Salam with Oman Club occupying fourth place on four points. Suhar and Al Bashayer are fifth and sixth respectively.

"I thank God for yet another opportunity to showcase my talent in another top league. It's a true definition of sports meritocracy. I feel the opportunity is well earned through hard work discipline and dedication.

I thank Trailblazer Volleyball Club the coaches, players, and all the technical staff for their support," Sialo offered.

He continued, "I am joining the league at a very competitive level; that's the knockout stages, so I have to dig deep to help the team win that would be more satisfying.

So far we're doing well we have three wins out of three matches and looking forward to qualifying for the semi-finals of the league mid February."
